for understanding

no Hate,

Stuck.

I’ve recently come to terms with this problem I face when trying to put my ideas into words (both here & elsewhere - & particularly here because I intended this to be for my more thoughtful posts): At some point, faced by the monumental complexity & subjective uncertainty that makes offering a solution to any of the world( or even any one person)’s problems, no matter how large or small, so daunting; I just end up throwing up my hands in this awful mix of humility & cowardice.

It’s like, babies survive more or less by assuming their well-being is the only thing of concern. Granted, there’s little more a baby even could concern himself with so I’m not knocking babies for being short-sighted; but you can get pretty well into adolescence & even into adulthood without having that disposition challenged, & there’s nothing in (our) nature that changes it for you. Indeed, the more resources you have at your disposal (especially over generations) the less likely you are to (need to) get over your sense of cosmic importance. & even if you yourself have gotten over it, there’s still some other 6 billion odd people (that number itself part of the problem) who may or may not have had the same revelation &, if they haven’t, are somewhere between passively or very intentionally making it difficult for you to do what is needed to maintain the rock you & everyone else lives on.

It’s like, how could this world so casually spawn us (with us so necessarily dependent on it), but instill in us no thirst to take care of it, neither for it or our own sake?

&, we can’t even agree about state of the rock we’re living on, never mind what we all should be doing while we’re on it.

What kind of set up is this?
